Just like that terrible racist judge that threw Awateri-Sunglasses in jail. There are plenty of non-Maori committing fraud, mainly with their private employers as victims, but not nearly as many (publicised) taxpayer ripoffs by non-Maori. Funny, that.	Peterj116 (6762)
391910	2005-10-01 21:27:00	I agree Peter, that Judge was absolutely racist for letting her off half price because she claimed to be Maori. She should have got a minimum of 6 years. 3 for what she did and 3 as a bonus because she was a Member of Parliament holding down a position of trust. I see the Foundation has now declared themselves insolvent, (she must have got the lot) but expect to be bailed out by the taxpayer. The sad thing is they probably will be. :mad:	B.M. (505)
391911	2005-10-01 23:56:00	Just finished watching Lord Of War, a movie about a guy who traffics guns and arms to third world countries. He makes a sh*tload of money off people shooting each others. War is great for him. While its a movie it's based on a true stroy, and coincidentally the gun trafficer is NOT a Maori, thats got to amaze you. Or perhaps we could start a thread about the old leader of IBM, which sold a card system that helped the Nazis manage the murder of millions of Jews, who WASN'T Maori. I'm not going to label anyone a racist, because i also get pissed off everytime i hear stories about Maori "pushing the boundries" - like when they tried to claim the air above there land and charge radio stations for sending the radio signals across - but incase you havn't worked out, Maori aren't the only ones who try to gain money at the expense of others, in fact people of all races religons, ages, genders have commited an act to get money unfairly. So before so go make another thread about Maori wanting more land, money etc maybe you could start one about the countless non-Maori who have done so.	imarubberducky (7230)

My only concern is when it's our money being grabbed by whoever. Companies making money from Nazis or any other war-related issues is completely irrelevant. All I care about is the apparent lack of money for teachers, nurses, fire fighters & many other essential services when there seems to be a bottomless pit for protesting whingers. Then read this: The legal aid bill for convicted fraudsters Donna Awatere Huata and her husband Wi could end up exceeding $500,000 . An investigation is under way into the couple's eligibility for legal aid, following allegations they have assets of more than $1 million . To date, $19,845 has been paid in legal aid towards the couple's costs, but a "substantially" larger chunk of lawyer invoices, other costs and expenses from their case have still to be processed . Legal aid costs comprise lawyers' fees and disbursements, such as research, cost of expert witness and administrative costs . Members of the legal fraternity spoken to by the Herald on Sunday estimate the legal aid bill for the couple will be more than $500,000 once all invoices have been accounted for .
