2005-10-01 13:44:00 | [QUOTE=imarubberducky]I was under the impressions that MS lost money off the xbox's, but made that back and more on the games. Correct me if im wrong. The gaming devision lost 4 billion, thats counting all money out and in, games as well, so yes, your wrong As for micrsofts divisions, theyve recently reorganized it from 7 to 3 which u can read about here (www.windowsitpro.com) if you really care. Reading it right now... I seriously doubt MS is goin 2 die as quickly and easily as those have predicted, especilly right now when PC makers have no alternative OS to install on there PC's (Lets face it Linux is not made for end-users). As for a Google OS? I seriously doubt it will be released anytime soon. They'll at least want to make their brand more intergrated with there user base by proving they can make some worthy programs (unlike the crappy Google Talk) MS's biggest compettor is themselves, They are quite capable of shooting themselves in the foot, infact they have been firing round after round into it already. No reason to upgrade, a good product already on the market and customer dissatisfaction with forced liseses may well lead to a flashpoint. I rountinly advise people that there is no reason to upgrade to Office 2003, which is why MS force it on companies by penalising them if they don't, they know all to well its a waste of time and money. And anyway, once google releases an OS, theyll be the devil and you'll all move onto the next obscure thing Stuped thing to say, You seem to think people are as thick as a bag of hammers and just dislike MS because they make money, I couldn't care less if they sank or swim. Their tactics and poor quality control are what they are judged on, not their wallets. If google carried on like MS then they would already be considered by many to be just as bad. I dislike advertising but I can accept it when its bundled with a worthwhile product that is otherwise given away for free, What I can't accept is my OS stopping me from doing what I want with my files and my hardware.

2005-10-01 13:51:00 | I think you must have linked to the wrong article, There isn't a single word about restructering the current devisions of MS, merely some management shuffeling, one guy retires and 2 more are being promoted sideways. If that was the article you meant to link to then.......are you well?

Precisely why I use Linux (not excusivley mind), it's MSs' behaviour that I find unpalatible rather tham it's products, although that is also fast changing . BTW, Linux is an end users OS . What on earth else can it be? Granted, in general terms for the average user it is not up with Windows, but these days that is more upbringing than anything else . At least, by and large, it allows me to use my computer the way I want to use it . An incredible concept, while the opposite is the erosion of user rights, QED Windows is becoming less useable . |

2005-10-01 14:32:00 | A friend of mine tried to recently tell me there was no hope for Macs, Linux, Solaris, and that Windows was the only way. "So easy to maintain and keep going" he told me. "So easy, yet you still have to run anti-spyware, antivirus, defrag, scandisk, firewall for monitoring outgoing data, constant updates in every little hole because they're all remotely exploitable" "Yeah, but thats all easier than Linux" was the reply.... ..Then again, this joker tried telling me the first thing he did when buying a PC was increase it from a 32-bit to a 256-bit PC. I seriously wonder sometimes aye.....

2005-10-01 14:41:00 | All schools should immediatly be converted over to Linux, all computer studies teachers retrained in linux. Then in 10 years time all Government departments switched and a 4000 percent tax applied to MS products.

2005-10-01 14:44:00 | Chill, is there an Windows theme for Linux/KDE/Gnome, that will make it look pretty much like XP? It would be kind of fun, in a juvenile sort of way (easy there SE, stay, stay), to load it up for such as your mate . I'm sure he'd get along just fine, so long as he doesn't try to load up the 256bit capabilities  Edit: Did anyone just experience a net outage . All 4 sites I have open became unresposive for a few minutes . Standing Amazed, you playing around with me, come on, fess up .
