670750 2008-05-20 04:31:00 While I will install CCleaner for people, it and others, do not clean everything from your registry.

Do a test. Run it and then go through manually and take a look.
Nortons for instance. It left most of it behind.I have run CCleaner but have never used the Registry cleaner as I guess I am not confident running it.
Under Registry Integrity should I run it with everything ticked?

Seriously, good point though- I have been wanting to use the Registry cleaner function for quite a while, but have always found something else to do if only because I'm not too confident with it either.

Speedy (anyone? :D), I don't suppose you have an idiot's/n00b's guide to using this do you?

www.ccleanerbeginnersguide.com about the double post. I was having trouble with connecting to F1.
It is always helpful to hear from others who have run the registry cleaner and can give advice on any problems they have encountered. Cheers.

You can back up the registry entries (you've got the option, of backing the entries up or deleting them), before you delete the invalid entries.

There's not much to it. I just delete everything. (after I've uninstalled whatever program/s). Never had a prob with any programs not working afterwards.

670756 2008-05-20 23:09:00 Thanks Speedy. I guess it is fear of the unknown. I have always been scared to play with the 'Registry'. Pato (2463)
670757 2008-05-21 09:38:00 Backup the registry using MS's tools or create a Restore Point if you're still not sure. beeswax34 (63)

Don't wait for the weekend. Do it NOW.

I've used the registry part of CCleaner for years, and never had a problem. It seems very gentle compared with, say, Toni Arts Easy Cleaner.
