391160 2005-09-27 13:07:00 Actually it's not that there's tons of people, it's that they are all in one area. 100m of cable in HK may well cover a helluva lot more people than 100m of cable in Auckland- let alone the rest of the country

But yes, it isn't fair. But when you consider that Hellstra have control of aussie and still have an iron grip, even when they have cities liek Brisbane, Perth, Sydney etc there aint much hope here ;_;

BTW. For the record, HK don't have 10mbit. No, they get gigabit fibre connections for unser us $120 (?) a month. Granted, it carries internet as well as phone and TV, and only around 30mbit or so international bandwidth, but still bloody good

391161 2005-09-27 15:10:00 According to the isp.My dad is charged $60Hk = $12nz every month for a 10mbps per second connection.It isn't a fibre optic connection.The connection runs from powerlines.

There are 100mBps connection at around $300Hk thats around $60NZ?

391162 2005-09-28 01:54:00 IPG is up and running in the hills of Tennessee and Oklahoma . . . really out in the sticks of the US . . . they have good speed and the FCC (US Federal Communications Commission) said it doesn't cause any rf or d/rf interference to the hams and short-wavers like they thought it would .

This is gonna run neck-and-neck with WIFI In The US for supremacy .
