Given that the seller has repaired/replaced your motherboard, you have no case to argue under the consumer laws.Surely the pertinent fact is that it was repaired/replaced then failed again. That has to make it a candidate for being no good in the first place. | Tony (4941)

Consumer Institute (http://www.consumer.org.nz) can often advise on matters such as this, if you are a member. | abehart (8962)

A warranty is an added extra, an inducement if you like, it has nothing to do with fair trading or consumer guarantee. Having said that, unless it was a very expensive mother board, taking the dispute further is hardly going to be worth your while, unless done purely on a matter of principle. Far more damaging for the supplier, and satisfying for you IMO, is to warn others off from making the same mistake, name the sods and grizzle long an loud (having a mind for other laws that might be applicable, of course) |

| 390953 | 2005-09-26 07:32:00 | Reading here (www.consumeraffairs.govt.nz), I am confident that I do have a case. A dead motherboard is not repairable, so: If the fault is serious or cannot be repaired The customer has three choices. They can: * get their money back * get a replacement * keep the goods but get some of their money back in compensation. The customer chooses which of the three options they prefer. I don't care if I get the $50 back or not, it's half on principal and getting half back is better than nothing. |
