670827 2008-05-19 18:09:00 Hello to you all
I want to recover(download) a few days of email from a Gmail account into OE. I know the possibility of "Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)" but that would take ages to go through and sort it(delete the unwanted doubles). Is there a possibility to "download" a time restricted (between certain dates) option?
Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks
NT

670829 2008-05-20 01:28:00 Use the Imap option for Gmail, then it'll download the folders like what u see on the Gmail site.

Then all u would have to do is delete what you dont want

Speedy, thanks
Would I create a new profile with an imap account as the existing account is pop3. Or create an imap account in the same profile and shift the wanted emails over to the existing account and delete the rest?

670831 2008-05-20 01:41:00 Just edit the pop account and change it to Imap

You dont need POP and IMAP for Gmail.

Or come to think of it, you may need Outlook for Imap (mail.google.com)

Altho, it shows you how to setup OE here (mail.google.com)

670833 2008-05-20 02:14:00 IMAP is actually better (If you can use it).

As it imports the folders into OE / or OL.

And you can basically do the same thing in OE or OL (as if you were doing it on the Gmail site - delete / retrieve email).

And it sorts it out (like it would on the Gmail site, ie: spam goes in the Spam folder etc).

670834 2008-05-20 02:36:00 Yeah, I have set up OE and Gmail with IMAP a few times, it seems to work really well.

Don't use it myself, but haven't had any complaints as of yet...
