2008-05-24 21:03:00 | Hi guys Sorry, you will get all these stupid questions from me until my system settles down. I reformatted yesterday after my SP3 debacle and reinstalled SP3 with the little fixit program that Wainuitech or Wratterus or who-ever mentioned - perfect. Comodo FW throws up a pop-up for every file change/addition (Warning, such and such is trying to create a file or whatever). Now I don't want to do that forever and SWMBO definitely will not, (I probably should have unchecked a check when installing) - how do one fix it? XP SP3, AMD 2, etc.etc sarel

2008-05-24 21:08:00 | Umm what version of Comodo did you install? 3.0.24.368? Thats what a firewall does, it'll ask for access for any file you run. It wouldnt be a firewall if it didnt

2008-05-24 21:14:00 | That option is there (at bottom) but they keep on coming. Yes, Speedy I now remember - it's such a long time between reinstallations - the same happened previously. *Hit own head with mallet* Should have tried to think. See, that's what senility does to you. sarel

2008-05-24 22:21:00 | If your not paranoid and just require the Firewall function of Comodo, right-click on the tray icon and move mouse to Defense and Security level and move the tick to Disabled. This stops that annoying "do you really want to run this program" etc... | pheonix (36) | |
2008-05-24 23:09:00 | What should happen with comodo, is when you install a program, a box (different to the normal warning) pops up asking "do you want to switch to installation mode" - you click YES - this in non technical terms, temporally turns part of Comodo off while the program installs. You get a warning about two minutes later asking to switch back, if you are finished click yes, if not finished click no, untill you are finished, if you dont switch to installation mode you will get pop ups all the time. To manually change to that mode in open comodo, in the main window, down the bottom off to the right is some small lettering saying " Switch to Installation Mode" - click that. (If needed) That wording changes once in the mode, but its easy enough you just click again and change it back. The general rule I use with comodo when first installed is, if you open a program and the firewall pops up wanting access, select " Treat this Application as" _ then on the drop down box to the right select "Trusted application" click OK. It wont bother you again. Also READ what is wanting access, Eg: if you open Itunes, it will say its the Itunes exe up the top of the box. What I find is if you are continually getting pop ups either you have a LOT of programs wanting access, or you are not telling the firewall to remember the settings as above. << last ones the most common cause - people need to read and learn the programs functions. You cant blame the firewall for doing what its meant to be doing. It only does what its told to do.
