Often they have a dedicated email address for "news". A good tip is to write your press release as if you were writing the article yourself. For some of the smaller papers, this means that if they have the space, they can just plonk your press release in their paper without any real effort on their part. If you email them then its even easier - just copy and paste. As Metla says, unless its newsworthy, most (particularly the national media) won't bother. Lizard |

A lot of people . What is of consuming interest to you might not grab everyone . Write it as a news item, not like an essay for school, or a report for management . Keep it short . Keep it simple . Try to make it English, rather than "marketese" . You often see badly written articles about some company or its products ,in the giveaway newspapers (even worse written than the efforts of the paid staff), but you will always see an advertisement on the same page . The "article" wouldn't have been inserted without the advertisement . Even journalists have some standards . |
