672167 2008-05-24 22:51:00 yeah I'm not gonna expand my D partition just yet, wanna try out KDE 4.0 first, looks quite nice. Can anyone recommend a good linux distro thats very easiy to use? Blam (54)
672168 2008-05-24 23:00:00 For some reason the GRUB menu doesn't always show up

Want if Grub decides to show up after you've got rid of ubuntu, this method doesn't get rid of grub out the boot sector but it does get rid of the grub config files, be prepared for a vista boot sector repair which is quite easy if you've got a vista disk but maybe more interesting if your pc uses a recovery type system from a hidden partition.

672169 2008-05-24 23:10:00 Yep, you may want to confirm your bootloader's not bung with EasyBCD (neosmart.net) if you haven't already. sal (67)
672170 2008-05-25 04:07:00 I've already got EasyBCD, how do I check if everything's OK? Blam (54)
672171 2008-05-25 04:11:00 DON'T EVER DELETE A PARTITION IF YOU don't know what it is.

It might be a hidden recovery partition installed by the manufacturer so you can restore the computer to "factory state".

672172 2008-05-27 23:02:00 I used Gpart to delete the partition as jwil1 said, I didnot delete windows or it recovery partition. When I try to boot into vista I get Grub loading stage1.5 and Grub loading plese wait...Error 22. I have tried to recover windows with disk. but still get the same results. I cant get to the factory restore using f8. How do I get grub off my computer? Gpart would not let me reformat that part of the partion. leoleta (13786)
672173 2008-05-27 23:26:00 i think GRUB is part of the master boot record (the "system" area) on the hard disk, does the partitioning program allow you to view the MBR or the system area? you may have to use a bootable CD or floppy like BootIt NG or similar williamF (115)
