2005-10-07 11:05:00 | depends on what channels you wanted, sky is still broadcasting of optusb1 which tvnz are also broadcasting FTA off to, so technically all youd need to do is purchase a FTA Decoder and your set, no equipment changes at all, oh if people just want FTA channels, i highly suggest contacting your local satellite/tv installer for a FTA package, btw, FTA stands for free to air, it works out to be about $400 with install for a FTA Decoder and satellite | Tux (606) | |
2005-10-08 09:06:00 | Ah, thanks for the info.... So basically, I still need the encoder... I guess if I stop paying after my contract ends, some guy will come and take the decoder box away? Or will they just leave it there in my home? Cause if they leave it and don't take it away, maybe there's a chance that "encryption" won't be changed for the FTA channels (just for the pay channels), and I can continue to get clear reception???

2005-10-08 09:24:00 | U pay a rental to keep the box live, $20 roughly, and u get the free channnels and the sky promo channel ad nauseum.. | pine-o-cleen (2955) | |
2005-10-08 13:42:00 | nope they take the decoder away unless you keep up the FTA subscription through them, once you have sky though, its tough to let it go, esp the documentary and news channels for me | Tux (606) | |
2006-11-24 07:22:00 | guys - trying to connect th einput from sky into the decoder - just moved house and forgot th esetup. Recall the setup had two inputs - on into the screw in input an dthe other into the normal male/female input. when screwing into the screw input on the wall does this go into the 'antenna in' jack of the 'cable in jack' ?? | hamster (9023) | |
2006-11-24 09:43:00 | Sky is not broadcasting off optus B1 they switched over to optus D1 last wednesday night. I know you might have checked in the advanced area of your decoder and it says optus b1 but its D1 sky have said they are waiting on some software to download to all decoders to change it so it reads as optus D1. | Hitech (9024) | |
