| 392902 | 2005-10-02 21:52:00 | yea i'd go second hand for the Concept 2 as well. becos as has been said, they last ages - even at gymm, so if its just for home use should be fine. I probably would only buy second hand of a personal seller - not a gym or a second company as they may be selling ex gym stuff. quick look on TM: HERE (www.trademe.co.nz) Don't get a Model B (quite old) But theres a used Model C there for $1800 Otherwise a used M D for $2100 or a new one for $2400 if you're wanting to save $$ go for the Model C, just as good |

I really doubt that I can get her interested in rowing - she fell out of a shell into the Oreti river last year while learning for a workplace challenge. :waughh: Also I imagine a rowing machine will take up a bit of space whereas the treadmills can be folded upright and placed against the wall in our living room. Apart from the noise, one of the irritations of the exercycle was the amount of space it took up. Also it looked kind of odd in a living room and I kept finding it removed to the back porch. Whereupon I'd forget it even existed = no exercise. :D |

Whereupon I'd forget it even existed = no exercise . :D You have to get your wife interested in exercise, not rowing . Rowing is one of the better options for home fitness machines . Space? Take a look at . concept2 . com/05/rower/indoorrower . asp" target="_blank">www . concept2 . com scroll down the page for storage space . You think a treadmill looks natural in your living room? Good luck with the exercise . You will be doing well if you make it past 1 month regular use . Many gyms have a raft of members not seen again after a couple of weeks . Helps with the profits without having too many people in the gym training! Cynical but a fact of life . HTH . |

Given the extreme pluvial nature of the location, a real boat (a little dingy with oars) would be better, just use it whenever it rains hard. Be fit in no time? |

| 392908 | 2005-10-03 00:41:00 | Thinking of your machines . . . how's the BMW project going? Back on the road? OH YES!!! Took it to the Brass Monkey in June and have been keeping the battery charged since then, but have yet to get on the road again . This weekend might be a starter . Thanks GF for your kind suggestion - but we use a motorboat about town - much faster . :D And User, I hang my head knowing full well that you are right . Looking at Trademe the garages of NZ are full of fitness equipment bought in a flush of enthuasiasm, and then left to gather dust . What we might do is hire a machine for a month and see if we get sick of it . Rob99 - excellent advice but we have young children and don't like leaving them alone yet . Also I'm compelled to admit that our local weather for half the year is . . . . . er . . . . . . . . bracing . |

| 392909 | 2005-10-03 07:00:00 | Well the thing must be fitness this year......... It is an expensive hobby to have, almost as bad as computers......:D And the body has never been in such pain...:p if a muscle could make a sound im sure they would scream...........no really i have enjoyed the time i have been at the gym, but the idea of continuely using it, $$$ is the one, and im no better at the idea of a home gym, where to put it and then how often to use is the other one... Good luck with the exercise W001, and remember exercise and health is a lifetime thing, you give up on it, so do the body, muscles and will power..:D beetle |

| 392910 | 2005-10-03 08:43:00 | I signed up for 2 years, went for 2 weeks exactly...during which time I talked my brother into signing up....then I never...ahem....found the time to go back... Muhahahaha. Decided to get off my rump and put some effort into it, Now I'm enjoying it a lot and have to decide which days not to go, Find it very relaxing, I just spent an hour and a half working out and I feel pretty damn good. This time next year I expect to look like a greek god (they were bald and overweight right?) |
