| 672029 | 2008-05-24 03:35:00 | Are currently looking into upgrading a system. Not to the latest but to Intel Core2 Duo which has now come down to my price range. E8200 or E8400 CPU’s seem to be priced about the same & are both 3.0GHz. Getting the right motherboard is the hard part with many to choose from. If I go for Asus there is the P5B range & the P5K range to choose from. But which one. I have been wading through the reviews & spec but are not getting any closer to what is best for my needs. This system will be mainly used for gamming with a duel boot to another OS for office & internet stuff. It won’t need duel PCIe, Wifi or hundreds of usb ports. I know there have been threads on this forum relating to this very topic but I can’t seem to find any in the search. |

I dual-boot XP and Vista with no problems (BTW, when setting up dual-booting, install XP FIRST - that is, if you're going to set up XP and Vista - diff. story for XP-XP). It has support for DDR3 RAM if you choose to upgrade to that. However, I'm not a hardcore gamer! |

| 672033 | 2008-05-24 06:24:00 | Just had a look at your P5K I see it's got 6 memory slots. Im starting to lean towards the Commando with the E8400 CPU. Already got some Duel DDR2 800 CL4 memmory. |
