393124 2005-10-03 23:38:00 Two "interesting" articles in The Australian: Islamist Way or No Way, by Mark Steyn (www.theaustralian.news.com.au); and an interview with Abu Bakir Bashir (www.theaustralian.news.com.au) on justification for all actions against Westerners.

Both seem to imply a absoluteness of will and purpose - that all Muslims are this or that and nothing in between. In my experience, when I was a student at Auck Uni in the mid 90's, a spokesman from the Islamic Society, a white NZder convert to Islam told me with great confidence and certainty that in the ideal world of Islam atheists like me would be regarded as worse that the infidel Jews, Christians, Hindus and Buddhists. As such, "re-education" is wasted on a wilful disbelievers like me. Atheists would simply be annihilated.

I still thinks he, Mark Steyn and Abu Bakir Bashir are wrong. Reason can sleep at times, but does wake up eventually. People are not such monsters - Nazism and Communism were eventually were eventually overcome. So will religious fundamentalism.

Until the average Muslims' state and standard of living is adressed, no.

Until blind support for regimes that suppress average Muslims' are is redressed, no.

Until the USA's policies stop giving the world the equivalent of STD, no.

While those that recruit (largely) disadvantaged young Muslims', are allowed to continue to spout their bile and organise atrocities, remain alive to carry out their evil business, no.

Hell! why didn't I think of that . Met's there won't be enough room in hell, virgins all round in you know where (what's the general fascination with virgins and heaven BTW, do you really need to suicide by bomb to get them/there, or does same by boozing, smoking anything going and general unsavoury habits do it? they're over rated anyway IMHO) .

393128 2005-10-04 03:55:00 Pig Pills! Everybody using public transport quickly pops a pig pill before boarding, would save the hassle of gnawing on a pig-trotter. What bomber is going to blow themselves up when they are 'unclean'? Then for sh&*s and giggles spray all islamic countries with pig fat or similar. Veale (536)
393129 2005-10-04 04:46:00 That's why they blew up Bali in 2002, and last weekend, and why they'll keep blowing it up. It's not about Bush or Blair or Iraq or Palestine. It's about a world where everything other than Islamism lies inruins.
I agree with this last statement in the article. The big problem is how to deal with it. You can't just dump an A-Bomb in a country with innocent people as suggested above but at the same time you can't just stand back and watch as people blow innocent people in your own country up and do nothing about it. Your own innocent citizens are more important than a foreign country's innocent citizens.

True, but how do you make a Muslim state wealthier without it coming back to bite you? If they get make more money from selling oil etc, and there are extremists in charge, how do you stop them using the money to stage even more lethal attacks on Western targets? Solution: another country can help the oppressed citizens gain control of their country, but then half the world complains. You seriously can't win when everyone isn't united in trying to stop terrorism. When I say that I mean united in actually doing something about it instead of condemning it and leaving it to other countries to sort out. :2cents:

Care to enlarge on that Murray? The US provides - by itself - 24% of the regular United Nations budget . Far beyond what is fair or equitable . Quite why, I do not understand . But it seems to me that the US is giving the Third World food, medicine, peacekeeping troops, and funding the UN organisation .

Yes the Yanks make bumbling mistakes . They have an open society and are easy to criticise . But in essence they are bighearted and generous .
