2008-05-26 07:04:00 | Vista Home Premium (piece of shirt ) MYOB was mailing invoices intermittently with Windows Mail. Now we get an error message- " The attachment file was created successfully but there was an error writing it " MYOB creates PDF files which are then attached to mail. I don't think it is a function of MYOB itself to create the attachment, I suspect its a problem with Win Mail itself. I've Googled and only come up with stuff that is way to technical for me. I'm at home and not in front of the offending machine but any help would be greatly appriciated.

2008-05-26 11:19:00 | Can you create the pdf and save to the desktop and then manually attach and send? | SolMiester (139) | |
2008-05-26 21:13:00 | As Sol said thats your only option. MYOB requires full XP MAPI compliance and for whatever reason the new Windows Mail in Vista doesn't have this MAPI. It may work sometimes but most of the time it will through up error after error most relating to the MAPI client.

2008-05-27 07:43:00 | Thanks for the replys. Yes we can cerate pdf and save them to disk and attach them..but this is the long way of doing it. In XP we could just jet them away... I was aware of a MAPI issue and found an article that said Vista was ok with it, obviously not. Could I default the mail client to Thunderbird do you think ? Maybe I'll try that tomorrow.

2008-05-27 09:21:00 | I have no problem sending them using Outlook 2003 with Vista Home Premium and the latest version of MYOB Accounting. | CliveM (6007) | |
2008-05-27 22:02:00 | Your lucky Clive, as far as we can tell this is a intermittent fault only experienced by some users, something changed in the MAPI in Vista and so far it hasn't been determined what. Fully MAPI client is needed Lime, if you have this problem on Vista that uses winmail then its unlikely to work on any other system at this time. Its Vista thats the cause of this problem.

2009-03-13 07:09:00 | I had the same problem. Running Vista (expletive expletive) and trying to sync contacts it kept throwing up a message NO CAN DO. So (reluctantly) I opened OUTLOOK, which I still think is the worst thing MS ever built, and made for office networks, not open internet. For years I have use IE express as a clean, lean, fast, no whistles and bells program and had no problem. Vista doesnt have it. Windows mail (the alternative given) doesnt work with MYOB. Great. So I tried to Sync with the dreaded accursed OUTLOOK in Office PRO I just loaded. First nasty suprise, At start up it gives you 2 options. Load a full version of their own business, accounting software (before you even get in!) or load a lesser version of it and buy the real stuff later (thanks MS) Second nasty surprise. It gives a list of compatable Accounting packages. Guess what? One option. Theirs. MYOB isnt even listed. I tried for about 5 hours to get round it. Couldnt. Ended up going back to a restore point from before I opened the darned thing. Opened it again, and escaped out of the welcome screen that forces this business software. Tried syncing with MYOB. No. Cant find OUTLOOK please load OUTLOOK to your machine, OUTLOOK does not exist. And there it was open before me. Tried exporting. Eventually tried importing. And I got a message saying (when this little box pops up in ooutlook say yes) but....you guessed it. No box. So I closed the darn thing. Went back to searching for answers and work arounds and tried importing to MYOB again. WELL HELLO! I worked! I dont know if its a coincidence, an intermittent fault or just Murphies Law. But then I tried exporting and it went throught fine. WHILE OUTLOOK WAS OFF. Next problem. It says it exported them (to somewhere) but you know WHERE? I cant find them in Outlook anywhere. Tried an import and it said it synced the files. So they must be there 'somewhere'. I now have Outlook open. Tried to Sync again and got the same error message. Cant find it and please install it. I'm using MYOB Acc Plus v18 and running Nortons. Anyone else having similar experiences? BT

2009-03-13 10:38:00 | We are currently looking into Vista and Office 2007 with officelink and sync. Should have some support notes on the knowledge base around this in the next week or so.
