672614 2008-05-26 04:17:00 I used to be able to use VPN and login to my office server. Out of the blue, I was not able to do so. This happens to 2 of my colleagues. My settings has not been changed. I can't even pin the server. My IT guy says nothing has changed at the office end.

Though not able to ping, I was able to login using VPN but cannot access the server.

What could the cause of thw problem be, at which end and what can I do to resolve it?

672616 2008-05-26 04:36:00 So your VPN is connecting, but you can't actually log onto the server?

Are you using the Microsoft RDP client to connect??

672617 2008-05-26 04:42:00 Is your VPN connection configured to allow you access to the server you are trying to ping?

We use VPN at work and user network access is configured via their tunnel connection.

VPN tunnels can be set up to restrict access to network resources...

For example we have tunnel connections which only allow the user to have access to the file server and email server... they aren't able to connect to any other servers as this is set in the list of hosts they are allowed to access.

You may need to get yout IT guy to check and see what sort of network access you have through your VPN tunnel connection.

672618 2008-05-26 04:49:00 I have been connecting using VPN for the last 6 years. It's only the last 2 months that has been a real pain. I will check with the IT guy tomorrow. Thanks folks. Taurus (9579)
