672390 2008-05-25 03:50:00 Hey guys, I just went out and bought Age of Conan recently and popped her in to get started. Once the install begins it'll go for about 20 seconds then freeze and flash to a BSOD really fast and restart. After that restart the system doesn't recognize the HD and asks to boot from a CD. So after some panicking I thought to try unplugging the HD from the mobo and putting it back in. It worked. I tried installing it on the partition with XP on it and it worked.. but that doesn't have the space as it's meant for the OS only and stuff. It just crashes on my one available partition.

I'm running XP SP2 with a samsung SP1614C with 160gb in two partitions, one for the OS. I've done a chkdsk on both drives and it worked fine, defraged, ran anti-virus/malware removers but none of that has helped.

Anyone out there that can help me with this? This sucks ;[

672391 2008-05-25 03:59:00 Check the Age of Conan tech support forums for this, it's a better place.

forums.ageofconan.com

I can't access it because i don't have the game, so i'm not sure if it is of any use to you (need a CD key), however it's always best to check the publisher's tech support first as it may be a known issue.

672392 2008-05-25 03:59:00 Maybe it doesnt like the other partition, if it isnt C?

How much space is left on both partitions?

672393 2008-05-25 04:59:00 I did post there, but this problem is isolated to me. No one else is getting it. It's a problem with my computer, be it software or hardware.. I dunno. Redgie (13790)

K got it, the error was..

*** STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x00000003, 0x89A40DA0, 0x89A40F14,
0x805D1142)

Thanks for the advice for turning off the auto restart, people asked me for the error before but there was definately no way of getting it with a 1 second flash.

672397 2008-05-25 09:54:00 Was it a KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

As shown here ? (support.microsoft.com)

It said all the usual BSOD to my knowledge..

a problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer

a process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated

if this is the first time you've seen this blahblahblah take these steps

check to make sure new hardware or software is properly isntalled. if this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufaturer for any window updates you might need.

if promlems continue. disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. disable bios memory options such as cachin or shadowing. if you need to use safemode to remove or disable components, restart blahblah

then after the error code

beginning dump of physical memor
phys mem dump complete
contact your system admin or tech group for further assistence.

That's about it.. took a picture with my phone.
