What's the NZ legal status of this at the moment?

Personally I was also of the opinion that modding an X-Box or PS unit that this does not violate any COPYRIGHT LAWS, however using copied games is an illegal activity. Installing a mod chip voids the manufacturers warranty and also leaves you without any remedy made available under the Consumer Guarentees Act, at least I think it does.

Does installing a mod chip nullify the purpose for which the game console was designed/manufactured?

Hmmmm my mind churns with all these questions?

395520 2005-10-11 00:41:00 Incidently... I meant to ask this before, is there anyway to make my X-box connect to my home network and have it appear in "My Network Places" I want to copy some of my MP3's to the X-Box so that I have better tunes when I'm playing some of my games. Can I do this WITHOUT installing a mod-chip into my X-box. I don't mind installing the mod-chip but if that's the only way I can copy the files of then all good.

395521 2005-10-11 00:51:00 Even with a mod chip in your xbox, the only way to get data onto or off it is by using an FTP program.
Can you not put the MP3's onto a CDRW and then put it in the xbox and copy them onto it that way?? Never tried this!
