394437 2005-10-08 02:26:00 I am thinking of getting an mp3 player, can you get a player which could adapt to run in your car, or do you need a dedicated one just for that to play in the car. What are the cheap ones like ie= Cobalt from the Warehouse or are they cheap and nasty, would prefer one which you can recharge instead of batteries. micky (7329)
394438 2005-10-08 03:12:00 You could just buy a normal mp3 player.Something like creative zen neeon.the new mp3 player.
Then buy a car kit and just plug the it in your mp3 player's earphone jack with the other side leading to your car's tape deck player

394440 2005-10-08 07:58:00 If you get an mp3 player Mickey, the idea suggested by Ninjabear is good choice for playing music in the car, via the radio tape player .

I had used that previously, but lately discovered a minature FM transmitter . You plug it into the audio out of any player, mp3 or otherwise . It has 4 selectable FM frequencies that transmit the stereo sound to any FM receiver, in the car or house . Seems to have a range of about 10 metres .

It's very small . About a matchbox size, powered by 2 AAA batteries . Highly recommended . Very universal . Works with any player, and any FM receiver .

For you or anyone interested, it's avaiable from Jaycar, cat# AR3110, for $45 .

qmb.co.nz

and just use your existing FM radio.

Not forgetting the Flash drive where mp3 files are located for it.

Wireless Car FM Transmitter

<< Now you can use your CD/MD/PDA/MP3 player to listen to your favourite tunes through your car FM radio. Attaches to your portable audio player. Just plug into the headphone socket of your audio source and tune your car stereo to one of the 4 FM frequency ranges. The FM Transmitter has a noise filter which improves sound quality.
- Frequency channels: 88.1, 88.3, 88.5, 88.7 MHz
- 71(W) x 30(D) x 47(H)mm
- Weight: 36.1g
- Requires 2 x AAA batteries (not included).

Thanks for this thread - have been thinking of getting an FM transmitter for my mp3 players to use in the car and around the house.

394445 2005-10-11 21:07:00 If youve got a tape deck, have a look at one of these:

www.gizmag.com.au

its an mp3 player shaped like a cassette tape so it is playable in any tape deck! clever...

394446 2005-10-12 09:18:00 Some useful advice here for Mickey, but may not be what he wants .

The itrip for the ipod is a good option (possibly only one of a limited option) for the ipod, if you can afford one . But wont work on any other players .

The tape deck casette shaped player recommended looks interesting . Certainly novel, but 'clever' . . no . . Not for we NZer's . . Their best player 512mb would cost us more than $600 . . That capacity would contain only about 140 typical mp3 tracks .

I still think the little FM transmitter from Jaycar mentioned, costing $45 is an excellent option as Steve said . It is universal . Connects from any player (apart from ipods) . And so there are many options for players . mp3's, CD's, anything . For my purposes, I use a Creative MoVu 5GB mp3 player . (it is rechargeable Mickey) It will store about 1500 music tracks, costing about $350 . Also plays FM radio, + records from builtin mic . Another portable Sony CD mp3 player I have works fine with the Jaycar FM thingie to the car radio . .

I guess it all depends on what you want to pay .
