395136 2005-10-12 20:15:00 True,

I would personally move to somewhere else, LFS for example.

I get almost the same output, its just a tiny (well a lot) more work, but it gives me what I want.

Good point :)

395140 2005-10-13 20:20:00 So far we have 9% of the population prepared to pay

Why would you pay? Why would you not seek out alternates?

395141 2005-10-13 20:35:00 Why would you pay? Why would you not seek out alternates?I imagine someone would only pay if their question was going to be answered by a professional who knows what they are talking about. Sites such as Expert-Exchange where you pay for membership, can still have anyone who thinks they know what they are talking about giving advice with the resulting variance in quality or accuracy. Maybe some people think if it costs, then it has to be good. Jen (38)
395142 2005-10-13 22:24:00 I charge more when people have unreasonable expectations :)

But seriously- there are computer techs (who I assume do it for a living) on here that know a hell of a lot more than I do. You may get differences of opinion and the odd 'ego' thrown in, but I actually value those different opinions more because they are given freely without thought to how much might be whacked onto the bill at the end.

For my humble part, I actually feel good when I've managed to help someone and I guess most people on here do it for the same altruistic reasons.

395143 2005-10-14 03:44:00 ...Expert-Exchange...
Talking about Expert-Exchange, did you realise that its domain name www.expertsexchange.com sounds like... ;) :D (as read from Thursday's NZ Herald' sideswipe)

Cheers :)

395144 2005-10-14 03:53:00 www.expertsexchange.com/ and http: are two very different websites  . The former is a websearch site, the later a computer help forum. The former probably works on the fact people mistype in the well known experts-exchange URL to get their traffic. Jen (38)
395145 2005-10-14 04:14:00 I would imagine some poor souls are really looking for an expert sexchange..... Metla (12)
