672949 2008-05-27 23:39:00 Try another PC with a floppy drive, if you get the same error the disk is dead. Not always, sometimes its simply damaged sectors on the Floppy, or if the floppy is physically damaged.

What I have also found is for some reason you can get that error message on a XP Computer if the original Floppy was written on Win95/98/ME, Yet on a Win98/ME PC its Ok - try on a older Operating system and it may read enough to transfer the files to either CD or a Pen drive.

672950 2008-05-28 00:34:00 I had a similar problem, and after searching high and low, and trying all sorts of options I fixed the disk using Windows Check Disk, with "fix system files" and "recover bad sectors" options ticked. The original thread is Here (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz)

672951 2008-05-28 02:13:00 thats why i have a old 3.11 machine with 3.5 and 5.25" floppy drives, seems to read and format some disks better than 95 up. plus i got it working on a TCP/IP net so i can transfer stuff to a more modern setup williamF (115)
