672648 2009-03-13 12:37:00 LOL. MYOB is crapware at best, cannot believe so many people are sucked into using it.

Not only does it not send its own emails, it will bog down the fastest network unless you put it on a terminal server.

&*%$##%$ :badpc: :groan:

672649 2009-03-14 04:26:00 People use it because it does what it says is inexpensive and the learning curve is easily managed.

You are correct in the fact it does not have its own email engine, its run perfectly well over MAPI in the past and continues to do so.
As for networking only one of the products is supported on a terminal server, the others run quite happily on a peer 2 peer network or on a single PC as designed.

If your using a non-supported product over a network then yes you will get problems, and if your network setup is sub-standard installed by monkeys you will have problems.

The fact that 85% off all accountants in NZ run MYOB software and the vast majority of their clients also run MYOB software speaks for itself.

Perhaps you are the problem, not the software. Thousands of New Zealanders and Australians seem to have no issues with it at all.

672650 2009-03-14 08:31:00 The software is bad design. You make one change and the whole database is transfered accross the network, every change.

It is the pits when two or more people need to use it at the same time.

A proper terminal server is out of the budget for many small companies.

I have several clients that use it, and have found the best option is to turn someones computer into a terminal server, and everyone else logs in remote.

I may be a problem, but I am not an idiot that thinks MYOB is great software.

672651 2009-03-15 19:12:00 Its numbers speak for themselves.
So you just called 85% of New Zealand Accountants and their clients idiots.
Way to go.....

You may be missing my point, just because lots of people use it does not make it well designed software.

And if you want to assume and put words into my mouth, you are the idiot.
Rob99 (151)
672653 2009-03-15 20:55:00 And your missing mine.
There are plenty of alternatives out there that people could use. The vast majority use MYOB by choice.
If these problems were as large as you say then there would be a lot less users of the software.
You are assuming that your point of view is right and therefore everyone that does not have a problem is wrong. Your also assuming that your knowledge outstrips anyone elses and again that your opinion is "right".
Based on a few bad experiences that YOU may have had you label the entire company as crapware, that just reeks of ignorance as most of the country does not experience what you seem to be referring too.

Correct, nail, head, and you hit it. And I assume nothing.

672655 2009-03-16 05:21:00 Have a friend who works in accounting and she says MYOB has loads of things wrong with it. It just doesn't do some of the things it is meant to do apparently gary67 (56)
672656 2009-03-17 19:06:00 You will find that 99% of the time it is user error. Very seldom does a actual fault show up on the software. DeSade (984)

Indeed.

You will also find lots of software that plenty of people use and have little issues with, this does not make the software "good design".
e.g. windows, norton360, itunes..... <---you may recognise some of these, the list goes on.
