394415 2005-10-08 17:54:00 What about monitors. I just sold a 19" crt monitor about 2 years old for $40.

I had it on Trade Me for a week at $100 reserve and did not get a single bid or enquiry.
Re-listed it with a "buy now" price of $40 and it sold in first five minutes.

The big question is: Why is anything I want to sell worth nothing, but anything I might want to buy is at near new price??

I have two almost new motherboards out in the garage. Only slightly damaged by excessive use of thermal paste. What are they worth?

I am planning on buildng a new comp at Xmas. What could I expect to receive for this one. AMD 64 3200+ with 1024 ram. ATI 9800 vid card.
I suppose someone will say $100. :badpc: Then this is what will happen to it

Too cheap. But it does depend on the brand as to how much interest you get.
Also what brand your motherboards are matter. And the specs of course.
Can't just say oh its worth $X without knowing what they are.

I find if you sell a 2nd hand PC complete or at least mostly complete you get more for it than if you sell off parts.
Because there is always someone looking for an internet/home office PC.
You're selling the 3200 with 1 Gb? Its still new....not $100 at all.

List what the old one will consist of and its easier to give you an idea.

Friend has an A7v600, 2000+ CPU, 512mb DDR266 and case with um think its a 320w PSU. Selling just that would get him maybe $200...but if he put in a CDRW, small HDD and sold it as a working system he might stretch to say $350. Minus monitor etc of course. Well we think so anyway...Never can tell.
Sometimes its just timinh on TM - depends what else is going at the time as well.

394420 2005-10-08 21:24:00 Would this be the same CRT that was over a decade old and had lost all its brightness? the one you made a thread about just before you replaced it?

If so then it wasn't worth $40.

More like $4

Not a decade old, about 2/3 years.
The lack of brightness wasn't too bad.. It was just far too darkish for fs9. For normal work it was quite good.

The new one is ideal. Perfect colour. (19" Viewsonic LCD.) At $900 plus it should be good!
