673125 2008-05-27 09:48:00 Is it just Orcon? Or has the downloading speed of other ISP's packed up too. I can only get between 50 & on a really good day 100KB/Sec in Swanson. At work in St Heliers & with Xtra I get 280 - 300KB/Sec at any time of the day. I'm not sure if it's my connection speed, but just trying to log in to this site is a mission. I'm using a router in Swanson & an old Alcatel USB modem in St Heliers if that's any help Phil B (648)
673126 2008-05-27 10:02:00 Moving around this forum has been a prob recently.

It takes its sweet time sometimes.

And its probably like other ISP's, depending on WHEN you use it, it can be slow. Due to a lot of traffic and people on at the same time as you.

673127 2008-05-27 10:10:00 I've noticed over the last few weeks it's got progressively slower & slower. It's almost come to a grinding halt. I'm at home now & can use XP, Vista or Linux & it makes no difference. At work we use XP & it's all good speed wise. I've compared it to home whilst at work & on the phone to home, connected to the same site. Is it Orcon? Or has Xtra opened up extra bandwidth. Phil B (648)
673128 2008-05-27 11:05:00 Best time for downloads on Orcon is between 6am and 7am or between 12pm and 3pm from my experience. 6am to 7am would be the best of those two. vitalstatistix (9182)
673129 2008-05-27 11:07:00 I'm considering giving them the flick, just doing a bit of research to find the best option Phil B (648)

673131 2008-05-28 10:59:00 Just off O'Neils Road. I just did a test at audit my pc.
RTT Min=9 Max=309 Avg=181
QOS Dl=10% Upload=100%
Maxpause=615

According to the info on audit my pc, it appears my connection is rubbish

673132 2008-05-28 22:32:00 Can you have a look in the router and find the downstream and upstream rates.Which end of O'neils are you.Down there you are a fair way from the exchange so it may be just a distance issue
