672928 2008-05-27 01:08:00 Time after time today I have been getting a popup from Symontec, asking whether to let it make rules for 'UDP:1028' or to block once. The other parts of it are: 'local:219.88.16.246' and 5 other numbers which change in each popup. Symontec recommends allowing it (Symontec) to make rules for it, which I did for a few times, but have been blocking it since. Sometimes it flashes up 6 or 7 times in a row when I block it. Is it a spy thing or what? Even when I let it through, it still keeps on popping up regularly. Can anyong help me with this please? thanks black black (4099)

Googling on UDP 1028 doesn't give you good news, unfortunately: www.usenet-forums.com

Cheers :)

672930 2008-05-27 02:57:00 Thanks for your trouble Jamuz. Do you think that it is dangerous. I don't know whether I should do anything about it. Since I first logged on to
'press1', I haven't had another popup. black

672932 2008-05-27 19:41:00 I Googled it and got a "Generic Ecclesiastical History Of Great Britain" .pdf.
(books.google.com)
I thought UDO was a virus or some variant of it anyway. Guess not. I could swear that I saw it in my SpyBot S&D baddies list.

672933 2008-05-30 04:30:00 According to Wikipedia:

Udo or Uto (died 1028), born Pribignev (also Pribignew or Pribygnev), was a Obodrite leader in the early eleventh century. His name Udo, of Germanic origin, was probably given him at his Christian baptism, perhaps after his possible godfather, Lothair Udo I of Stade. His father, Mistiwoi, had abandoned Christianity.

Since two contemporary Obodrite princes are recorded, Anadrag (Anatrog) and Gneus (Gnew), Udo's power could not have been that extensive. According to Adam of Bremen and Helmold following him, Udo as a male Christianus ("bad Christian"). He was assassinated in 1028 by a Saxon, allegedly for cruelty. By his wife, a Dane, Udo left a son, Gottschalk, who later united the Obodrites under him and became a champion of Christianity.
