| 672715 | 2008-05-26 09:14:00 | Have captured and edited some two hours of video on Studio 8. Have added much music and some sfx. Everything has been going ok up until now. For some reason, I have lost sound reproduction. The problem does seem to be in the Studio 8 programme as I have sound in other programmes. Obviously, being able to hear the soundtracks are an integral part of the editing process, but it does not make a sound. I have restarted the programme and have rebooted to no avail. The length of the file is 1 hour 44 minutes. I am running Studio 8 on my laptop which has Vista as the o/s. Help would really be appreciated as there is many hours of edited that will go to waste if I have to start again. Thanks. Roscoe. |

Check to ensure you haven't muted audio within PS8,A shortct key perhaps ?,such as f5? Do you have the timeline displayed with the audio track as a viewable object that you can manipulate? |

| 672718 | 2008-05-26 19:39:00 | Roscoe it is a long time since I worked with Studio, but you can access the sound track tab with Studio and see if the track exists within the frames. Studio 8 can export directly to mpeg 2 and should embed the audio into the video on that format. I might still have studio installed on my old PC I will dig it out and take a look later today. |

Check to ensure you haven't muted audio within PS8,A shortct key perhaps ?,such as f5? Do you have the timeline displayed with the audio track as a viewable object that you can manipulate? I have tried all the f keys to no avail. Nevertheless, I do believe the sound has been switched off within the programme, as there is no sound at all. I work with the timeline displayed all the time and it shows three audio tracks; the original soundtrack with the original video and two that I can add. I can manipulate them all. They are all showing and I can still change them. I made a small avi and played it with WMP. Great picture but no sound. So it seems from what you say that there is a visual representation of the audio track but in reality no audio? I made a short mpeg as well. Same result. Picture looks great but no sound. Bantu: I do not know where the soundtrack tab is, to see if the track exists within the frames. Will you point me in the right direction, please. I'll check the forum again this afternoon. Thanks, Metla. :) Thanks Bantu. :) |

| 672720 | 2008-05-26 22:19:00 | Roscoe While in EDIT mode in the Top left corner of your timeline there is a small icon of a toolbox. Click that to bring up Audio Controls. From there you can check that the audio settings are not muted. When in Edit Mode can you click on Play in the right hand screen and play the timeline and get Audio? Under the little TV screen you have three icons, default is the left one, middle gives you Timelines of Video AND Audio separately. You should be able to see audio variations in that audio track if there is any sound there. In Make Movie Mode check Audio Settings are using the correct settings. This will depend on what Audio components you have licensed. In AVI it is probably set to PCM Audio if you are using the DV Video Encoder codec. I normally use MPEG to make mine and set to DVD Quality, this should give you best Video/Audio BTW What format is the original file in BEFORE you bring it into Studio prior to editing? |

| 672721 | 2008-05-27 21:53:00 | Bantu: I am using the Studio 8 Capture to import from my camera, recorded on Mini DV. The programme saves the imported video as an avi file. I have looked at the three icons you mention but they are as they should be - not muted. The Movie Maker settings are as you say. I now suspect that it is not the programme but elsewhere as other programmes do not play sound either. I have WMP, WinAmp, Nero Show Time and Cool Edit and the latter is the only programme that will play sound. It seems that there may be something switched off somewhere - wish I knew what it was! I see, under your location, that you are, "In My Auckland Office." I too am domiciled in that great city. Is a meeting possible? I am close to No Tree Hill. |

| 672722 | 2008-05-28 00:34:00 | Roscoe do the AVI's play audio prior to being edited? Also once you put it on Studio's timeline and play it within Studio - any audio? Just a matter of what point it is loosing it's audio. I also input off MiniDV tapes. I in Howick and rarely leave there. |

| 672723 | 2008-05-28 01:03:00 | No, the AVIs do not play at all in any programme I put them in. Once in the timeline, still no go. I am happy to come to you if you think that may help and you have no objection. |

| 672724 | 2008-05-28 01:47:00 | No, the AVIs do not play at all in any programme I put them in. If you input some Digital Video from your Camera using Studio, it saves out as AVI. Replay that AVI in Windows Media Player. "Windows Media Player" should play the AVI's fine, mine does. version 7 I think, not sure where the about is to check it. You could also try inputting that same video with Windows Movie Maker and see if you get Audio coming in with that if you are sure you have audio on the MiniDV tape. If you have no Audio from that then it might be a fault of the camera or your Firewire connection. |
