673466 2008-05-28 12:49:00 It could be using onboard video ram as well.

And if the version of Vista is 32 bit,I think it can only use 3.25 - 3.5 GB of the ram not all of the 4 GB.

How much memory has the videocard got?

673467 2008-05-28 12:50:00 Might be a hidden recovery/restore partition on the drive. Maybe check the manual... kahawai chaser (3545)

Its memory not the space on the hdd.

673469 2008-05-28 12:57:00 I think it might be both the factors that Speedy mentioned.

Vista 32bit cannot see all 4GB of RAM
Your video card is likely taking some RAM for itself.

Not too worry though, 3052MB is more than enough. There WILL be 4GB of RAM sticks in the laptop.

673472 2008-05-28 13:10:00 Windows 32bit will only ever see 3 gigs, maximum. I wouldn't worry about it. Greg (193)

Give us a model no.

As said it may be a 32bit address limit (actually its a software limit as well). What you COULD do is create a ram drive using this unused space and use it as a fast HDD (only 1GB though :p). A good use would be your pagedisk so your HDD does less work and your computer runs faster.

Why is that? why is it not 4gb - what ever the graphics card has?
So if you had a 32mb onboard graphics, why isnt the maximum 4064mb?
