673321 2008-05-28 00:29:00 Hi all

I am going to change my Gmail from pop3 to imap as from what I have heard it's a shade better in some areas (if I creat all the filters and labels on gmail they should automatically appear in thunderbird)

Anyway

Lets say i have email coming from 3 sources eg tradme, ebay, Zillion currently I can't get the google filter to filter all three in the same filter and label them as "Auction" if I am going by "From" (I need to create a single filter for each)

If I filter on "Has the words" I can put in
Trade me OR Trademe OR ebay OR Zillion

note: OR is a boolean operator it is supposed to be in there for the filter choices

However if I put
trademe.co.nz OR ebay.com OR zillion.co.nz
in the from field it only seems to filter the last domain

Now you are going to tell me I should stick with the "Has the words" expression, but it leads to a crapload of false positives

Next Question
Is there away to go through gmail and find all non-labeled emails (labels applied by gmail), short of going through every single page of emails

from:{trademe.co.nz ebay.com zillion.co.nz}

673323 2008-05-28 11:08:00 What I did was create another Gmail address with a label, within my main Gmail account/address, and apply a filter (skip the in box ticked and apply the label name ticked) to send to my main Gmail address. So basically it's a automated label approach.

so you have myname@gmail.com (main account) and I created myname+newlabel@gmail.com

You can see the label name in the label box on the left hand side, once a email arrives with that label name arrives. But not sure how many sub label addresses can be created within the one account...

I used this tutorial (www.online-tech-tips.com) (to send a label gmail every time I posted a article)
