Rob I think he was asking where to put one up, not how to make a site.

Free hosting is really good at Portland (http://www.portland.co.uk/).

Top reviews, half the price of NZ efforts with many times the bandwidth, disc space, sub domains, email addresses for Africa........... and so on.
No wonder our balance of payments is out of control.
They, like many others, have software which allows newbies to create their website online. Or you can buy Frontpage or an equivalent, create your own website at home and upload it via Frontpage Extensions.
It's not rocket science.
Even this simple sailor can do it.

Email me if you want more info.

I truly hope you're joking :horrified

Anyone who's creating a first site won't have a clue how to setup and secure a webserver. That's what free hosts are for. Even if they do have ads, at least they are non-maintanence

397231 2005-10-18 02:54:00 With free sites you get what you pay for....

adverts, no security it will be there tomorrow, no indexing in search engines, therefore few people find it and it just languishes on the net.

pay around $100 per year and make a real site....
