Cheers :)

And smoking is to provide me with a drug that I need.

James, when you have been hooked on something as addictive as nicotine then perhaps you would understand. Im 36 and not at all imature. I have already sucessfully resisted the urge to imature several times in this thread alone.

To all the people who are bitching about the smokers. How would you feel if the Government legislated to stop you doing what you do?

397174 2005-10-18 06:34:00 Disagree, thats what legs were invented for :p
Yup, I agree that's the purpose of legs . Unfortunately, changes in life, sometimes revolutionary as well have force us to find means to travel long distance in a matter of short period . IMO, evolution has not catch up with our legs yet, which explains why we can't travel vast distance in a short time . Instead, we have learn to use our head to provide us the technology, which may explain the "lag of evolution upon our legs" . Hope someone can understand this .

Cheers :)

Yeah, I understand that smoking is addictive, just like a person's passion for love. However, you need to tell your ownself that smoking will not bring you whatsoever benefits at all. Think about your health and your future. Seek help from a professional or learn how to change your lifestyle to exclude smoking as part of your daily activities. Tell a friend about your difficulty in controlling your addiction and tell them to stop you whenever you are about to light a cigarette. Get a nicotine patch etc. I sincerely do hope that you will not lift up another cigarette again.

Cheers :)

397179 2005-10-18 08:22:00 Surely the Government woud legislate to make smoking illegal if it where that bad for us. After all, name one other drug that is addictive, can cause sickness/death in the drug taker and/or those around them, and is easily obtained from the corner dairy. Surely the nanny state has our best interests at heart and would protect us from such a vile drug......well wouldn't it? craigb (4884)
397180 2005-10-18 08:25:00 what are you, 12?

It's a common trend with you isn't it? Instead of dealing with the topic at hand, there you are bringing out the personal attacks :groan:

Those of you addicted to your tabacco fix are not being forced to give up (yet), but it is certainly moving away from the situation where you could smoke in a crowded lift and consider yourself cool.

Everyother addictive drug has been heavely restricted, tabacco has only recently been restricted at all

397182 2005-10-18 08:33:00 I think the anti-smoking legislation has been taken a bit far, but it may help people to kick the habit.
When one is addicted to nicotine, it is easy to get into a state of denial, like it it doesn't really harm your health, or, it wont harm me.

No matter how much denial there is, it does clog arteries, and it does reduce lung capacity.

I used to enjoy a pipe, but a heart attack gives great incentive to quit :)

In lieu of having a heart attack, for those wanting to quit, I'd recommend visiting the local rest home or the rehab. ward at a hospital, and see how many old boys have had toes, feet, or legs amputated.

In the meantime, how about Two Cigarettes in the Dark (www.redhotjazz.com)
