The reason so-called bands make so much noise is because they are trying to hide the fact that they are completely lacking in musical talent.I wasn't sure if i should bite to that.. O the delema, but to hell with it, i'll bite :D Speaking as someone who regulally works with live musos, let me assure you that what you say is perfectly true. ....Except when it isn't. The bands that want 120 db usually want it not to hide a lack of talent, but to flatter their delicate artistic egos. Their talent factor, or lack of, is a seperate issue. Generally people who want to get on a stage are the sort of people that want to be seen and heard, in a big way :p On the other end of the scale. I've worked with some talented artists that are afraid of being loud enough that they might be heard at the back of the room, and some who have good reason to be shy. I'm the guy who sits on the master volume control, and must say that some music is designed to be loud. Death Metal fans would puke at me if i didn't have the room shaking with the double kick drum. Other forms of music should be less loud. I worked with a realy funky band once that required that i gave it the kind of warmth you could feel, but at the same time was at an overall volume that one could talk to the next person in the room. That was fun to do! :D |

I just have to agree 100% with Jack :) Now this is real music, played by a real orchestra, with real instruments, a fantasic 'chase' chorus between Bix Beiderbecke, and Frank Trumbauer and vocal by Bing Crosby, what more could one want  I selected this because it was just played on Radio Dismuke, Live 365  You Took Advantage of Me ( . redhotjazz . com/Songs/Whiteman/tookadvantage . ram" target="_blank">www . redhotjazz . com), Paul Whiteman 1928 . In those days they could all read music superbly, and the arrangers were the tops . |

I think you may find Iggy originally came from the Ramones Ringing ears, yelling at the top of your voice, muffled hearing.... yes remember that from seeing Def Leppard at the Mt Smart Supertop (my that was a few years ago :\) I was bought up on loud music, I love loud music, but am toning it down as I know I am partially deaf, and don't want to impart the same issues on my daughter But dayum :D |
