397446 2005-10-19 07:57:00 They sell them at the local greasies shop
I decided to try on once....
then tried another one a month or so later....
then had to have another a few months later...

They are very nice, very rich, and play havoc with any suspect teeth :(

Are you serious about the battered Ice-cream???

397448 2005-10-19 08:09:00 The ice-cream ball is coated in batter and quickly deep fried to turn the outside crispy while still keeping the inside frozen(ish) :D - Yum!

Quite a popular dessert in Chinese restaurants.

As well as what Jen said - you often deep-fry it and then immediately put it in the freezer which re-freezes any ice-cream that has melted

And make your batter soggy.

397451 2005-10-19 09:15:00 A local foodshop has battered Toasted sandwhiches, 3 layers high and pumped full of cheese.

I'm pretty sure its a feminest plan to kill off working class men.

The day i see a battered Steak and cheese pie I will tell them they have just gone to far....

Forget deep-fried Mars bar. One of the unhealthiest snacks in the world can now be found in Ukraine. For years people here have loved pork fat, known as salo.

397453 2005-10-19 18:38:00 MMMMM

I wonder, can you batter a salad and deep fry it - it MAY not be fattening for either Metla or meself. Must say the battered ice cream sounds yummy

LOL :D

One recipe I have made calls for cookies without filling (biscuit-NZ?) crumbs and a dry cereal (Kelloggs Special-K) mixed in a large bowl and pounded to a course powder, then double-dipping the ice cream slabs in crumbs, egg whites, crumbs again, and then popping it into a deep fat fryer. The oil (Peanut or Canola) must be at 350 degrees F. Wait till the crumb coating gets nice and brown and serve immediately. The insides are still very frozen if not very cold. The batter is an insulation for it. It will sit on a plate for quite a long time in this condition, so the actual rush is not to serve it...just do so in a convienient short time.

I must admit, I'm Chinese and have never had deep fried icecream. Must have been created especially for Pakehas. :p Like Japanese Teppenyaki.
