673522 2008-05-29 01:50:00 No you're right (I think)

From what I read he's saying that the Laptop could connect to router fine, the Laptop could connect to the desktop fine, but the desktop couldn't connect to the router

You got it Agent_24, I just cant get my desktop connected. The laptop connects fine even using the same cable.

673523 2008-05-29 04:27:00 Is that same cable and same router port?, if so, maybe buying a $10 NIC is a good idea to rule out the NIC SolMiester (139)
673524 2008-05-29 05:44:00 try updating the driver for the network adapter in device manager.
Run, then type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
Go into network adapters then right click the adapter you want to update then select "Update Driver Software".

Good Luck

673525 2008-05-30 02:32:00 Thats not going to help blam. Perhaps downloading a driver from the manufacturer's website might be worth it, but downloading a driver from Windows Update...thats more likely to make it worse! :p

Got any further demon?

But the NIC in the desktop should be OK, we know it connects to the laptop fine!

Perhaps it's something to do with speed settings?

Try going to the properties of the NIC and instead of using auto-detect try manually setting it to 100 Full Duplex

673527 2008-06-05 23:01:00 I dunno about anyone else - but I'm interested to know what the story is here! :p

Any more news, demoncleaner?

673528 2008-06-06 04:35:00 I'm with SOL on this one. My original WAG54G did just that. Had 3 LAN ports used and one kept dropping off. Changed ports around and always affected the same PC. Got worse over time until one day all ports died. Replaced under warranty and had no problems. Upgraded to firmware 1.02.14 Pluto other day and still stable. berryb (99)
