2005-10-19 20:24:00 | But what do you download? Movies? Different strokes here, obviously . The IHUG new plan at $39 . 95 would be heaps better for me compared with XTRA at same price as I only use just under the gig . I would get 8x speed and 2-4 x cap . But I would have to pay a churn fee and next week XTRA may match it!! Quandary .

2005-10-20 04:02:00 | I've been downloading around 150MB everyday so.It takes 24 hours for me to download 150mb since im on dialup.I just let it download while I do study or when i head off to bed. Even thought ihug lowered its prices.I still won't consider as I would like a plan with flatrate just like dialup. The new prices doesn't seem very appealing.I was hoping there would be a 2mbps flat rate Still so expensive compared to overseas... Im on orcon dialup and I'll use the 256k flat rate next year.

Yeah, so they may start at 29.95 and you think "woohoo, cheap broadband at last", but a 500mb cap is just an insulting joke. That price was just put out there to get attention and to suck all the nooobs into signing up who dont realise how quickly 500mb gets sucked up. Get rid of the flaming caps for a start. Plans should be differentiated by speed, not data. People who pay more - go faster. People who pay less - go slower. It's as easy as that. Why have all these complicated plans (which aren't all that complicated but dont give any choice in speed whatsoever). Oh - and it's all very well having the 2mb/sec in theory but getting max usage out of this is crippled by the PATHETIC upload speed (should be at least 256k, maybe 512k would be more reasonable). Broadband wont really take off here until more reasonable plans, prices, levels of service and terms and conditions become reality. |

2005-10-20 07:33:00 | i disagree, i can now get for $49.95 2mbit with a 20gb cap for LESS than i was paying for 256k 3gb cap, thats more than a marginal improvement mate | Tux (606) | |
2005-10-20 07:39:00 | i done about 1.5GB by myself, not sure how much my parents and brother did on there pc's, so im guessing 2gb all up..... not bad for dial up. ive managed to do 4gb once...good times | Prescott (11) | |

2005-10-20 17:57:00 | COPIED from another thread. "What's wrong with this for the "average" user??????????????? I'm paying $10 more for 256 megs starter with tolls 2 Mbps 2 GB + 2 GB $39.95 And I made a phone call the other day to Wgton in peak hour.Talked for and hour and a half. $2.50. What would T'com have charged me?" I think that for 99% of us this is the perfect plan. It's not likely to get any better anytime soon. And for the other 1%. Please don't fllood us with stories of how useless the plan is FOR YOU. Personaly I am quite happy with the current 256 plan.
