| 673929 | 2008-05-30 09:43:00 | Anyone know if it is possible to record audio from the Line Out socket to the Mic In socket on the same PC? (Stereo cable male to male) Daughter has a small program that came free on a CD in a cereal box that can create different audio sounds effects, however, it creates and plays its own sounds and when it saves them it can ONLY save it to a text file. I have not come across this before. The txt files just open in the program and play but no way to play them on anything else that I can find. Just wondered if I can play them with that software and capture the output back into audiocity or similar. Audiocity does not recognize the program as such, but maybe it can capture from the Mic in. I also tried MP3myMP3 Recorder which claims to be able to record anything you can hear but no joy with that either. |

If you cannot see a slider labeled "Wave Out Mix (or similar)", go to Options > Properties and scroll through the list to find and click "Wave Out Mix", then click OK. Adjust the slider to the desired volume and click "Select" by Wave Out Mix - Then... Go to Start > Run > type in sndrec32. Click the record button (button with the round icon) and then (quickly) click/play the sound in the program to record (have to get timing right). Stop the recording and then file - save (wav format) to a folder... |

If you want to record such audio, just pick that as your record input and then play your files. You might have to do a few test runs to get the levels right. Sound recorder is OK but it's very limited - Audacity would be a much better choice. Then, just start Audacity recording and then play back your sounds. Edit out the silence later |

Stereo mix enabled, it was not visable and when made visable was muted, so with that fixed and playing audiocity recorded it just fine. FYO The text files that program made looked a bit like binary code.
