673383 2008-05-28 06:43:00 After removing the Hercules Smart TV card, the following system errors appear in the Event Viewer:

1. The Hercules, SmartTV WDM Crossbar service failed to start due to the following error:
The System cannot find the file specified.

2. The ProVideo, PV-957 WDM TvTuner service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

3. The Bt878, WDM Video Capture service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

4. The Hercules, SmartTV WDM Video Capture service failed to start due to the following error:
The System cannot find the file specified.

How do I stop those services from loading when starting Windows? Have searched but could not find any related services in the Administrative Tools.

OS: XP Pro SP2 with all the updates installed.

Could someone point me to the correct direction to eliminate those errors, please. Thank You

Cheers

673384 2008-05-28 06:45:00 Those will be the drivers for it

Delete them (the driver entries) in device manager

Theyre probably under sound, video and game controllers

And check in device manager / view / show hidden devices.

Go to non plug and play drivers. If any entries have a X delete it. Its probably one of these drivers.

Checked as you suggested but could not find any.

According to the Event viewer, the source are from Service Control Manager. How do I get there?

673386 2008-05-28 07:22:00 Take a snapshot, somehow of whats under sound, video and game controllers (click on the +) in device manager.

And upload it to ImageF1. Post the link it gives u back here.

Is there an entry in add/remove programs for the drivers?? If there is uninstall them.

673387 2008-05-28 08:24:00 You should remove drivers before you remove hardware... If you can then put the card back in and then uninstall the software and then remove the card again... Agent_24 (57)

673389 2008-05-28 10:09:00 Hmm ok youre right theyre not under that entry.

You may have to go into the registry

Go to start/run, type regedit, then go here

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es (click on the +)

Look through here for those entries, they may have the same name (or similar names, as the ones you posted), if theyre there, highlight them then delete them.

If there's nothing there. You may have to click on the top entry (my computer in regedit), and ctrl-F to find the entries. Then delete them.

Make sure you DONT delete the wrong entries !

Or an easier way maybe, whoever made the software / drivers, see if there's some kind of removal tool that removes the entries from the system

It doesnt matter if those errors come up, it wont affect anything. Its just telling you the drivers / the card isnt installed.

Did u try what agent said?? Put the card in then delete the drivers in device manager?? Then remove the card?

673391 2008-05-28 10:24:00 Well if youre game, find the entries in the registry.

Highlight them then delete them

673392 2008-05-28 10:44:00 :thanks Speedy. Got rid of them from the Registry.
