| 396845 | 2005-10-16 12:17:00 | I'm into gaming and would like a headset that I can wear comfortably for a long period of time if the need arises. I've no idea what is on the market atm, I've done a google and come up with one interesting pair. Zalman Headphones Theater 6 www.xoxide.com I don't know If I'm gonna need a sound card to use these. If I do could you give me an estimate on what that would cost? and I would also like to know what headphones you'd reccomend that don't need a sound card (plug into the headphones jack in the side on my monitor). |

| 396846 | 2005-10-16 12:50:00 | AFAIK, you can't hear any sounds on your comp without a soundcard, or onboard sound (on your mobo). The headphone jack on your monitor only works if you already have a line-out from your PC connected to the line-in on your monitor. You can't transfer sound over the monitor cable. The headphones you mentioned look freaking awesome, but are 5.1 cannel, meaning they require a 5.1 channel sound card and sound. They would work ok on a normal soundcard (or onboard sound), but wouldn't be worth the extra money. I got a very good pair of Panasonic headphones from the warehouse for $20, and they are comfortable and mute external sounds very well. If you do need a sound card if your mobo doesn't have onboard sound, you should look here (www.pricespy.co.nz), which gives you a very good idea of prices for soundcards. (Assuming you are in NZ). | 396847 | 2005-10-16 19:14:00 | Just buy a case with front audio ports (audio and mic) . I got one the other week . It connects to the mobo connection (the Intel front port connection) . NOT all mobos have this tho . Or you can buy a case with the front audio ports, which plug into the back of the case (on line out / mic) . Got a headset with mic for $13 . 50 lol . Wired the front ports to the mobo . Now I can use the headset for Speech recognition in Word, and in Opera with its voice option . And the good thing about this case, is if u connect the front ports to the mobo, you can listen to whatever thru the headphones, and line out (at the back of the case), at the same time . |

| 396848 | 2005-10-16 20:22:00 | You'll need a soundcard. But really you can get away with quite a cheap one without being disadvantaged in your games when playing multiplayer online. Headroom (http://www.headphone.com/) have got a good reputation so have a browse there. |

| 396849 | 2005-10-17 09:20:00 | My mobo has onboard sound. Never had a sound card before and don't really know how much of a difference it would make (have AC 97' audio). I already have headphones that I bought a couple years ago, work fine still but I wouldn't mind having a Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound experiance through some new ones :D So yes indeed my monitor produces sound with or without my headphones jacked in via the mobo's sound adapter. |
