| 674262 | 2008-05-31 08:07:00 | Hi I have a DSE usb mp3 player. When I plug it into the PC's usb ports, Windows XP says "USB Device Not Recognized: One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recogonise it. For assistance, click this balloon" When nothing is plugged in, I have USB 2.0 Root Hub 3x USB Root Hub 3x VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller VIA USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller. When I go to the device manager, the mp3 player shows up as Unknown Device. I've plugged it into the rear USB ports, the same thing happens. Then when I plug in the usb drive, it appears as an unknown device too. BUT when I stick in a normal usb drive FIRST, that gets recognised as a mass storage device. THEN when i plug in the mp3 player, it is also recognised correctly. So what could be causing this? mp3 player then usb drive: both are not recognised usb drive then mp3 player: both are recognised. |

| 674264 | 2008-05-31 08:58:00 | It works fine first time on a friend's computer. Ive installed the latest usb drivers for my motherboard, but that doesn't change anything, if that helps. I'm using SP2, but so is my friend's computer. |
