674461 2008-06-01 05:34:00 I'd say if you can read other disc's of the same type but not this one, then its probaly some evil copy protrction on the disc that your optical drive is unable to deal with.

I would have that game woud have fit on a cd.......

Do you have another DVD you can test with?

674466 2008-06-01 05:47:00 Do you know if you can buy this one of the cars on CD or are they all DVD? toodles (13818)
674467 2008-06-01 05:52:00 It depends on the type of game - however many newer mainstream games are on DVD these days, particularly those with a lot of graphic detail.

You don't need to use a game to test with though - if you put a standard movie DVD in, you should see at least two folders when you open it (AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS), although due to the encryption you won't be able to read any of the files.

Cars is likely to be DVD-only. In the past, some major games were released on both types of media, but this rarely happens these days - almost everyone in the target audience has a DVD drive already.

674469 2008-06-01 06:10:00 Are you sure you have a DVD drive. I just went to another forum and a person has the same problem and someone asked them if they had a DVD drive and he said no just CD drive doh. Yes you can search round other forums with problems for this game by using google. Seems to be a few problems with it.
:)

674470 2008-06-01 06:11:00 If you put a DVD movie in, but the 'right-click>>open' thing displays nothing, then your drive is most probably stuffed. Get someone to look at it before you write it off though - it should take less than 5 mins to figure out if the drive really is faulty.

A software problem is unlikely, but possible.

I just went to another forum and a person has the same problem and someone asked them if they had a DVD drive and he said no just CD drive doh.I was thinking the same thing as you earlier, but no - he says he has a drive calling itself a 'Lightscribe DVD+ Writer', and Windows identifies it as a DVD-RAM drive.
