2005-10-27 03:41:00 | Banks, Teleco's,Petrol Companies,....its just a fact, they all suck. When times are hard they increase the profit to cover it, when times are good they increase the profit because they can, times get tight again, squeeze the little guy so the suits can afford the yaucht and 80 year old wine. But....OMG, a free transaction, I cant believe it, they didnt charge me to use my own money, they are teh wicked. Society will crumble one day, and no one will shed a tear for the banks.

2005-10-28 09:15:00 | I'm with Westpac and love them. I pay no fees (but then I'm 15...), and have two accounts with them. A current account, as many transactions as I like, don't care about interest because I always only have $80-$150 in there. And I have a savings account with 5% interest. I keep all the rest in there and pretty much don't touch it. 5% interest is good. Their service is amazing, they answer the phones quickly, and you can enter your customer number and pin while you wait (a real time saver, they know who you are when they answer). The online banking is very good and remembers people you pay, keeps a running total of your balance, neither of which my old bank (National) do. I know of no other bank that pays 5% interest with no minimum balance.

2005-10-28 10:09:00 | Personal experiences: National = Horrible bank staff training. I had an incident with them where they count my money wrongly, and "lost it in the till". Only by the end of the day, and after my argument with them over a missing $100, when they did the "sums up" after closing, did they realise they had $100 extra.... Yikes, how can you trust a bank like that? ANZ = Steel-faced, hard nosed bank staff ASB = Good? I don't use them, but haven't hear much negative things about them. Kiwibank = Good if you like the convinence of paying off your home bills while you bank, haha.... Ah, and the one that you guys (and NZ in general) forget and neglect... HSBC...... With their great account, Online Savings Account. GREAT if you're tech-savvy. No account fees at all, unlimited Eletronic transactions (ATM/Internet/Phone transfer, deposit, withdrawal, bill payments), free unlimited EFTPOS, free cheque book, high floating savings interest rate with no fixed term (6.75% now I think)... Only catch? Don't ever go to a teller, cause they charge I think $1 each time.... And you can only use HSBC or westpac ATMS. Suits me though! I beat all the queues and such, and my money keeps accumulating. And you have no problems at all with bank staff, cause you don't see them after you open your account.

2005-10-28 10:49:00 | We use bankdirect which we find very good with it's netcode system. | wmoore (6009) | |
2005-10-28 19:10:00 | ANZ now owns National so really they are the same thing. ASB owns Bank Direct -well Bank Direct is their online version, so same thing. Anyway reviews of customer satisfaction with all the banks are published every year so we don't really need this thread.

2005-10-29 09:25:00 | SBS is very good. Technically not a bank but like PSIS and credit unions they do everything most of us need a bank for. Otherwise, my experience of other peoples attitudes towards their banks (something I deal with daily) is that National Bank have the happiest customers. I don't bank with them myself because they don't have a branch close to me.

2005-10-29 21:26:00 | I have used National Bank since 1981 and currently have 5 accounts with them - one of them a business account. I refinanced a mortgage two years ago, moving from Pioneer to National Bank, and got a really good deal. All works smoothly with National Bank in my experience, and they are consistently up around second or third on the customer satisfaction ratings. I also have had a little experience with BankDirect, and for the purpose for which I have that account, it has been great.

2005-10-29 23:06:00 | Kiwibank because it's a Kiwi bank. National screwed me around when we had a mortgage. Can't remember the details except it was a mistake they made and I had to fix.

2005-10-30 18:05:00 | I hate national bank too.I joined up because of the tertiary account and the credit card.lol Either than that I don't really use my national bank.Well i only use it for student allowance, loan and direct debit. I mainly use Kiwibank and Tsb bank. National bank is so slow.I deposit money.Direct deposit thru the branch. It comes thru the next day and not the same day and whats worse. The reference of the deposit doesn't come thru until the next day after that. People paying thru to me via internet banking is annoying also.It would show my balance risen but there's no reference until two days later Kiwibank deposit and reference together comes thru 12am on the dot.Tsb bank comes thru at 3-4am.Both banks are GREAT!
