674540 2009-03-18 08:58:00 The jack point can be an RJ11 socketed wall plate that takes the modular plug from the modem, or an RJ45 wall plate will do also, the socket is bigger (for ethernet cable plug) but the smaller modular plug will fit.

To clarify even further :D Telecom's Code of Practice now calls for all wall sockets to be RJ-45. (And has done so since March last year)

It might be a Code of Practice but anything later than the older style BT jackpoints aren't covered by the wiring maintenance contract so don't pay for that if you're modernising.
