398595 2005-10-23 22:23:00 I did. And Fair GO and Consumer and PC World.

I hope that was all back last century Jack.

Old news is cold news, never gets air-time or print space unless it's a slow-news day, in which case it goes in the "Sideswipe" oddities "ha-ha look at this" segment.

If you really want attention, strip naked, paint yourself with woad and chain yourself to the appropriate ivory tower.

Worked for the ancient Britons and made the Romans kick-ass.

Actually, I think it was "kick their ass".

398597 2005-10-24 03:49:00 Way back in the distant past I decided to get om the internet .

With my new PC was a disk that set me up for internet with Telecom . I ran the disk and filled in the form . I selected the "unlimited use" option and in half an hour was up and running .
Lots of fun for a month . Then the phone bill arrived!
I was on a limited plan and had to pay extra over whatever the limit was .
I owed them about $400 !!!!!

How innocent you were . I've never signed up to any kind of internet account off a disk . Surely you realised you must have needed to contact them . Or at least go to the website and read up on the plans?
I know Xtra have had and still do - those install CDs, but I've never used one . What for? You do it manually?
And HP are not responsible for the plans - they might bundle the advertsing but so what?
And so you hold a grudge forever and resurrect it now?
Jeez, once when I was 5 . . . . .

Well please fon't keep us in suspense. I for one will be up half the night now worried about what mental or physical scarring may be affecting you now that you are somewhat older.

I'm reasonably sure it can't be mental.

Remember we are talking 12 years ago. My first taste of internet. How would I know that selecting "unlimited" meant I wanted "limited".
Only a company like Telecom would act that way.
I think I was entitled to assume they were honest.

398603 2005-10-24 08:16:00 Lol i had a similar problem with overcharging, i have my mobile on account, and one month they charged me $1200 for texting, and since it had the number of texts included, i was charged approx 50c per text, and they were quite nice, i rang them and told them what i found out, they said, they cant do anything automatically, so they went somewhere else, and told me theyd haveta go through a process that takes 5 working days, i was oh ok, left it at that....30 mins later i was rung and was told, all sorted, was even credited $100 for my hassles...

I think ppl really hold something against them for something small, you gotta remember they deal with millions of customers, so if they piss you off, that probably just means they had a bitchy customer just before you....all u gotta do is settle and try and sort it out...

Makes $10 text seem quite appealing...
