398045 2005-10-23 03:10:00 Hmm, this was Metla's last post on the forum, not at all like the boards "Pathological Egoist".

Best we keep an eye out on the beaches for a black tee shirt and pink fluffy slippers floating on the tide

398049 2005-10-24 02:36:00 All is well, The stream did rise to the point where it looked like it would overflow, but it just sat at that level for 10 or so hours.

My house was built to avoid the worst, so it sits higher then the surounding houses, My neighbours aren't so lucky and tend to get a lot wetter.

generally I don't bother to panic untill the water gets to the backdoor, So I just do what i can as my neighbours are all elderly and have different reactions to the rising waters, The ones on the left go into full evacuation mode, the ones on teh right draw the curtains and attack a large bottle of Gin.

Anyhow, As I was keeping an eye on the stream a couple of old freinds rocked up just having flown in from Australia, so we.....uh, drank a slab, then went to watch teh league down the pub, then travveled into town to check out a band that some other buds play in....

So I was a little crook on Saturday, Then headed off to a Wedding that all the lads from the last 20 years were attending, Which meant all of us heading to the pub, then to the reception, then off to a party at 2am, finally managed to crawl home as the sun was rising.

Now its Monday arvo and I'm still crook.......

But what a way to go though.:p

Flooded by mouth, leaving a similar feeling to having had the Wanganui river dump a load of choice milking shed silt onto your tongue.

It's good to hear it didn't make it through your door though Metla, simultaneously dealing with that and a massive hangover would have been the pits. :yuck:

Cheers
