399102 2005-10-25 06:36:00 Well I started a thread the other day about Kazaar and any possible relationship with suspect adult content sites (avoided the P word); but it got censored with a supposed Rule #4 breach (I must have missed something - I couldn't really see the connection). A friends kids use Kazaar and they received this rather innocent looking link in an email which was to a rather disturbing site. Mum was pretty upset... the kids didn't see it luckily. I have told her to get rid of Kazaar. Before I get censored again, has anyone any experience of Kazaar and any connection at all to adult content sites (I just want the experience, not the specific sites involved otherwise we will all get censored). dolby digital (5073)
399103 2005-10-25 06:43:00 Cant see any reason to blame kazza for a porn email, they are recieved by more people then Kazza users.

Though if someone was niave enough to enter their real email into Kazza in the first place then they should be banned from the internet.

PLUS, any search n Kazza generally brings up some porn files and files that are named something innocent (such as Crazy Frog-remix) that turns out to be a scat movie.

AND, No one who wants to avoid either doing maitence or paying someone to do maitence on the machine should have Kazza installed, though this is in relation to virus infected files and bundled spyware, not email porn.

BUT, If the spam kings have already got the email address (which they have as such mail as been recieved) then you can count on the load getter bigger....and bigger.....AND BIGGER.

.

I wasn't so much blaming Kazza, although the Mum was (and Mums like to blame someone or something :horrified ). Anyway, how do you know that Kazaar/Kazza/Kazaaraaaa don't supply their "customer" database to suspect operators, especially if a high proportion would be teenage males (do the words target market come to mind).

Yes, I do appreciate that is can be very difficult, if not impossible to establish where they got your email address from.

Its dangerous out there :xmouth:

If she lets the kids do what ever they like (music theft) on the PC then she can only blame herself.

399107 2005-10-25 08:05:00 I don't think kazaa will be here for long.Apparently it has just lost its court case from what I read in this month's pc authority magazine Ninjabear (2948)
399108 2005-10-25 08:20:00 just like any other client like kazaa.....

399109 2005-10-25 08:38:00 Kazaa never asked for an e-mail address ninja (1671)
399110 2005-10-25 08:47:00 Kazzalite has an email address assigned under the user profile, by default this is something like user@kazza.net, The user can if they so wished (pure madness) change this to their real address.

I would assume the full Kazza has the same such feature, I can only assume as I smite Kazza as soon as it rears its ugly infested head.....

Do you really expect Mum's to understand what their kids are doing on the pc when the kids these days are much more pc literate than their mums are. As I said I have suggested she remove Kazaar. I suppose you are like the IRD, igorance is not an excuse.
