397896 2005-10-20 08:02:00 I have a bit of a weird question to ask.

Next year I will be going overseas to represent NZ at an international tournament, as the Captain of the NZ Team. While the trip will be subsidised by the NZ organisation and its principal sponsor, team members have to contribute some money to assist in covering the airfares etc - approx $1000. I apologise for being a big vague here, but I don't want to give away my identity on a site which seems to be picked up by Google quite a lot.

Does anyone here have any suggestions as to who I could write to, to seek sponsorship?

Note: I live in Hastings, if this is of any help, and the team I represent is not a sports team.

397899 2005-10-20 08:23:00 Look at the likely recipeints of any benefits for promotion, such as the gear you wear or the equipment you use etc.

Companies generally want something for their money, so any companies that could "associate" with your cause would be the main target.

Write to the General Managers of such companies. As one who has been on the receiving end of such letters, I can suggest that you promote the advantages etc as politeley as accurately as possible.

(by the way I used to decline them just as politely, but you never know your luck)

On that vein, fundraising is VERY easy. Just be creative.

397901 2005-10-20 08:31:00 Thanks godfather and roddy_boy.

Metla: I have a job. Unfortunately I can't "freeze" my life so I can save the $1000. In any case, I am putting money aside from my weekly paycheques, but it would be nice to get sponsorship to make life a bit easier.
