675193 2008-06-03 02:40:00 Lol, Office 97 does NOT run on Vista - and fair enough. Theres a 10 year gap there.

If you need something to use and don't have office, use Open Office, free and does pretty much all the same stuff. You can default it to save in .doc etc format instead of it's own format.

675194 2008-06-03 02:44:00 Welcome to Press F1 - According to MS Office 97 is not supported (support.microsoft.com) in Vista - BUT that doesn't always mean it wont run, what you can try is open the CD contents, locate the install file and right click, tell it to run in computability mode - that may work, but it also may not. wainuitech (129)
675195 2008-06-03 03:36:00 No it doesn't, because MS having made you use Vista now insist on you buying another copy of Office.

However, OpenOffice, which is free, will work on Vista and happily load and save in .doc format.

675196 2008-06-03 04:38:00 Seems Office 97 will run on some Vista PC's. Just having a play and this is a Vista Home premimium Office 97 Installed and Running (www.imagef1.net.nz) - It may not run on Basic. Outlook spat the dummy - didn't want to open. wainuitech (129)

 at the icon on the desktop from Office97 installer: "Install Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0"

BTW I have had Office 4.3 running on Vista IIRC (or was it Office 95 )
