2005-10-28 02:15:00 | Has anyone applied for a credit card when they were on the dole and got their credit card application accepted? And when u apply for the unemployment benefit, and u sign the job seeker agreement, what does that mean? Do u just have to to into winz a few days a week and look for jobs on their computer or sumthing? Or can u just tell them u'll look for a job urself using nz herald and seek etc? SOmeone told me you have to go for job interviews winz tell 's u to go to every week? I mean say you what do all these people do that want to become musicians and they apply for the dole and get it?so i guess u might not have to go to interviewers winz tells u to go to right?

This is even if it is not in your field of interest . The dole isn't a lifestyle choice . . . And credit card companies would give their dead grandma a credit card, if they could :2cents: Maybe you should read the job seeker agreement ;) |

2005-10-28 03:33:00 | And when u apply for the unemployment benefit, and u sign the job seeker agreement, what does that mean? It means they will leave you alone for a couple of weeks and then because you are still on their books they will then arrange some interview. The employer reports back to them too - if you: don't go, refuse the job, purposely stuff up the interview, byebye dole money. And you'll get stand down too before you can reapply for it.

2005-10-28 03:51:00 | It's stupid for a Dole user to get a credit card. And if a person is a beneficiary, how will they be able to pay for the credit card? I thought a person needs to earn at least above 25k before being approved for a credit card... | Mr Wetzyl (362) | |

2005-10-28 06:39:00 | They'll rarely make you go to interviews. What they will do occasionaly though is get you to go in for workshops, eg interview techniques etc. But whatever, they'll contact you when they want you to attend something which you mustn't ignore. But no need to go in there weekly. | Greg (193) | |
2005-10-28 06:47:00 | the banks/credit cards etc tend to veiw benificeries as "gauranteed income". its much easy to gets loans on the dole than it is for a self employed person :( | tweak'e (69) | |
2005-10-28 19:17:00 | They'll rarely make you go to interviews . Oh yes they do . And really stupid things . A friend who is an ex-Telecom tech, then was a PC Rental co tech for 5 years after that was going to be made to do a "computer course" . This was one of those things that start off - this is your mouse . . . etc . He successfully fought that one . They sent him on a personal skills one instead (Brush your teeth before interviews, wear a shirt etc) My son was made to go for an interview at an electrical place, doing something with making up electrical equipment . He has red/green colour blindness . He didn't successfully win that argument . He pointed this fact out to the employer and said he was looking for stores work anyway and did the guy have any vacancies in the warehouse? The guy reported back to WINZ that my son was "uninterested in working" . Luckily he had been to an employment agency himslef and got a job in his preferred area just after that so he was very pleased to tell WINZ he no longer required their help .

2005-10-28 21:19:00 | I mean say you what do all these people do that want to become musicians and they apply for the dole and get it?The "musician on the dole" has to be similar to the "roadie on the dole" Thats me, when there's no shows, i'm back on the dole. It is exceptable only if there is work that the doley often gets, even if that work is intermittant. My dependance on welfare is becoming less and less as time goes on as i am getting work far more frequently. They will except this, with some reluctance. The days of telling the dole people some BS that you wanna be in a rock and roll band, and expecting to be left to go for it while doing nothing other than sitting on your parisitic useless butt are LONG GONE .....Hoorah!!!!! :D
