399680 2005-10-27 07:37:00 Can both vodafone and telecon do this?

I have family traveling in canada, and friends living in oz. what special things do i need to do before they receive a txt ok?

apparently in canada every area has a new district code, so your phone number changes as you travel the country?

Is vodafone or telecom better for particular countries? or vodafone only?

please be gentle,

399681 2005-10-27 08:26:00 when i was in europe earlier this year i experienced a few problems.

people could text me from 027, but i could not text them back. i was on vodafone nl. i found out that vodafone NL does not have a contract with telecom nz to send texts or something.

it will depend what sort of company your friend in canada has. and what sort of network, ie GSM (vodafone, sim card) or CDMA (like telecom)

i vodafone only costs 20c to txt overseas, but i think telecom costs more.

to text overseas you enter the area code and then the cellfone number, ie +31xxxxxxxxx

399682 2005-10-27 09:32:00 I have a vodafone mobile and I txt everywhere in the world.I text UK,Hong Kong,Australia..

Text messages arrive instantly at the other end and replies back without delay..

With telecom.I dont think you can text overseas.I've asked a few telecom staff and they say no you cant text overseas.

I believe America and australia are the other country that uses CDMA...

No other country uses cdma therefore can't receive your text. They are all running Gsm..Correct me if im wrong.

399684 2005-10-27 20:29:00 FWIW - I have three friends who live in the USA and none of them are able to text internationally since their mobile phone company disallows it.  Strommer (42)

Some of them cant send a text internationally but they may be able to reply to a text from oseas - but the window to do that is 48hours after they receive the text.

With my friends, evidently not, as they have tried replying to my texts. Perhaps they all belong to the same mobile company.
