675102 2008-06-02 23:14:00 Hey,

Any Xtra users here having problems accessing certain websites?
I have a client who is with Xtra and since Thursday last week have been having problems accessing some sites.
Sites like www.companies.govt.nz, www.vodafone.co.nz, www.ccleaner.com won't display. The browser will just sit there for a long time then time out.
Other sites work perfectly.
I have rebooted the router, server etc but has made no difference.
Doing a tracert to those sites above time out on one of the hops but not ccleaner.com, that tracert works OK.

Xtra say it is a problem with the customer's router...

675103 2008-06-03 00:37:00 Here on Xtra Go Large I can access those sites fine & I have not had any problems accessing any websites

Have you tried changing the DNS servers??

Here are the Xtra DNS servers I use:
Preferred DNS server: 202.27.158.40
Alternate DNS server: 202.27.158.72

Give them a try & see what happens.

Hope this helps :)

Yes checked the DNS settings and they are already using those - 202.27.156.72 is the correct alternate DNS.

Don't think it is a DNS issue anyway as the IP address for the dodgy sites are being resolved OK.
It looks more like a routing issue somewhere.

675105 2008-06-03 03:26:00 Hi my Telecom Pro Ultra plan is working fine will the above address's

have you tried using the TraceRoute command ?

1) Open a command prompt ...--> Start > Run > cmd
2) Type tracert www.vodaphone.co.nz

Anything usual ? you can get the results saved to a text file so you can easily copy and paste the results into here if you want by extending your above command too...

tracert www.vodaphone.co.nz >c:\trace.txt

The text file will be saved on your C:\ as trace.txt

675106 2008-06-03 06:06:00 when I have those problems I come back to the site/s later in the day, it usually works, I don't believe its my computer, its an overloaded Telecom, I reckon. Fern68 (13827)

Welcome to PressF1!

Yes sorry forgot to mention that I had done that already.
Tried tracert to vodafone.co.nz and companies.govt.nz and they both get to about 8-9 hops then time out.
I get similar results here at home on Xnet though so don't know if that helps or not

675109 2008-06-04 03:14:00 I've had this problem before - some sites not working when they're up (confirmed by using proxy) and some sites redirecting to others...

I reckon it is Xtra because it happened on other computers on my network (and not just windows)
