676222 2008-06-07 04:38:00 This morning I went to our local pc shop and traded my 2 256MB DDR400 ram for a new stick of DDR400 1GIG.

When I got home and put it in the pc booted and installed a fresh new Windows XP on it as well.

Now something funny occured and that is my pc can not read my external hard drive (Freeagent with 250 gig),wich the laptop CAN read and works perfectly in there.

There is a yellow mark in front of the device manager it says "USB mass Storage device"

I have tried to uninstall everything but when it restarts it still can not find the external drive. Am sitting here frustrated thinking what it can be...

Can anyone help me!?!?

Does the external hdd go by power?

676227 2008-06-07 05:03:00 Does the BIOS or Windows see it? Does it appear in my computer? Speedy Gonzales (78)
676228 2008-06-07 05:07:00 Can de BIOS see the external hardrive? Does not come up in my computer mark1978 (13845)
676229 2008-06-07 05:14:00 So, you've installed Windows on the desktop, and the external hdd is blank / empty then?

If it is, you'll have to format it, thru control panel / admin tools / computer management / disk management. Highlight the external hdd / right mouse / format

The hdd on the desktop isnt the only hdd is it? The external hdd is the 2nd hdd??

But then, if the laptop can read it, it sounds like its formatted.

Is XP on the laptop as well?

676230 2008-06-07 05:30:00 no no no, the external hard drive is only for my photos and music, my internal hard drives are fine.
I can't seem to get the external one going...
