Mind you the construction of the local dump (toilet block) just a stone throw away from this chrome plated pipe tree , does not exactly blend in with the Victorian and Edwardian atmosphere of the winter gardens, it looks as if they stole the block from Otara . . You can see a picture of it at this URL . nzherald . co . nz/search/story . cfm?storyid=000E58C8-5E93-1367-8AC283027AF10312" target="_blank">www . nzherald . co . nz At Auckland domain half way between the duck pond and winter gardens and offset so it closer to the museum, While it was erected it had a canvas bag over the top of it, so you could not see the top of if it, They should of left the bag off it while it was erected and Governor-General Dame Silvia Cartwright should of put the bag on it with a tamper proof seal . As I walked past it each day I thought it was going to be a water fountain and have water dripping and been sprayed from the top of it . I think it could have been a real pleasure to walk past if it had of been a water fountain and more value for money . Down the bottom were the water catchment area would have been if it had of been a water fountain it has a few Chinese characters, four of them set at 90 degrees, there is no mention in English, what it says in Chinese I suppose it could say Ha Ha the jokes on you, you capitalist twits |

I found not so long ago last Christmas . This is one unbelievable experience to think that you could get such a lovely bush walk so close to Auckland city 21st century concrete jungle, (& the chrome plated pipes thrown together) if you like nature I am sure you will not regret it . |
